Volatility Futures Update: Did the Critical Close Confirm the Breakout?
Yesterday, we outlined expectations for the key volatility futures close. Today, the candles are in — and the implications could shape market direction for weeks.
In this follow-up, we break down how the multi-frame closure actually materialized, what signals were confirmed or invalidated, and what the impact could be for equities and broader risk assets in the sessions ahead.

Tomorrow Closure

When a clear message is ready to be delivered, candles often synchronize across time frames — and that was the case here.
The 20D, 8D, and 2D closed with clearly bullish continuation candles, all supported by solid technical backdrops. The 5D was more nuanced. A green doji would have formed an Advance Block with higher bearish implications, but the red doji under these conditions leans more bullish, especially given the underlying technical support. The daily likely printed an On-Neck bullish continuation candle sitting directly on strong support.
Although the final candle shapes differed from those seen early in the session, the bearish pressure was not strong enough to force a decisive reversal. Instead, the structure held its bullish bias across the key frames, with only minor reductions in conviction on the less critical ones.
As anticipated, VX remains bullish and has further strengthened its mid- and long-term momentum profile.
