Volatility – Monthly Analysis

Every monthly series needs a starting point. Ours begins with VIX. Not because volatility is always the most exciting chart on the screen, and not because VIX necessarily predicts every market turn with perfect timing. We start here because volatility often changes its tone before the major indices fully admit that anything has changed at all. SPX, Nasdaq, Dow, Financials, Semiconductors—they may still be arguing about direction while VIX is already quietly adjusting the temperature in the room. That makes it the natural first stop. Before we examine where the major indices may be heading in November, we want to know what the market itself is pricing in terms of fear, complacency, stress, and potential instability.
