Bond Market – Weekly Analysis
The U.S. bond market delivered a clear warning ahead of next week’s Federal Reserve meeting. Treasury yields surged across the curve, but the strongest pressure came from the 2-year and 5-year maturities—a classic bear-flattening signal that suggests investors are repricing the near-term Fed path rather than reacting only to long-term inflation and fiscal risks. The 10Y–2Y Treasury spread adds another bearish layer. After a sharply negative June close across the 2-, 3-, and 6-month frames, the spread’s modest rebound now appears corrective. A clean weekly Bearish Engulfing points to renewed flattening and raises the risk of another move toward zero—or even a return to inversion.
